Amazon Web Service’s (AWS) Training and Certification Team is looking for a Technical Curriculum Developer (TCD) to design and build hands-on digital learning experiences AWS Cloud Career Education Programs in the K12 space.

Customers are rapidly adopting AWS as a way to build scalable and cost-effective web and IT solutions for their businesses. To do that effectively, they need training to help build their technical skills and develop proficiency with AWS. We are developing highly technical digital eLearning, instructor-led training, and hands-on labs that get customers deep into AWS technologies.

About the role

As a Technical Curriculum Developer (TCD) for our K12 programs, you play a key role in the curriculum development process. You work with Technical Lab Developers, Technical Curriculum Architects, Instructional Designers, and Project Managers to develop educationally sound and engaging training content. You exercise your excellent writing skills, technical domain expertise, and ability to translate technical content into easy-to-understand learning to develop the assets needed for the curriculum. You hold meetings with team members to plan content development, write technical training content, create storyboards, and develop digital assets. You innovate in your content development and collaborate on lab exercises that demonstrate how features of AWS Services deliver value for a wide variety of scenarios. You keep the K12 learner at the forefront of what you build, whether it be engaging interactions, educational games, and relevant labs to teach learners introductory technical knowledge and skills.

Key job responsibilities
• Write technical training content, build engaging e-learning interactions (Articulate Rise and Storyline), solicit feedback, and make content updates to e-learning courses, Instructor Guides, Student Guides, Lab Guides, and other presentation materials.
• Collaborate with Instructional Designers, Lab Developers, Solutions Architects, Product Managers, and Localization Specialist at AWS and facilitate meetings to understand and define the appropriate training needs (e.g., learning objectives, modalities and expectations) and to ensure the content you deliver is aligned with customer needs.
• Dive deep into K12 STEM content and AWS technologies, such as Machine Learning, Big Data, Web Applications, Security, Networking, High Performance Computing, Storage, Databases, Enterprise Applications, Migration Strategies or other solutions areas to understand the services and develop effective training for our customers.
• Respond to changes in products/features by revising content at the pace of innovation.
• Some travel required, primarily for event support and training (up to 10-15%).

As a Technical Curriculum Developer (TCD) at AWS Cloud Career Education Programs, you join a team of seasoned technical curriculum developers and training professionals. The team works in small groups on development projects for several months at a time. The team has well-defined content quality standards and development strategies that allow them build world-class learning materials. The team is distributed across the United States and Europe but maintains close working relationships by working in small development groups. • 3+ yrs. experience developing technical training material or designing and developing IT or technical training materials that include creating instructor-led materials, online/e-learning modules, job aids, online tutorials, knowledge assessments and other training materials.
• 3+ yrs. demonstrated working knowledge of eLearning development tools such as Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate, or Camtasia
• 3+ yrs. domain expertise in one or more of the following: Big Data, DevOps, Security, Systems Administration, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, IoT, software development, cloud technology
• Technical degree (e.g., Computer Science, IT Services) or 4 yrs. relevant work experience in technical industry required
• Travel required for course production, events, team and group meetings (10-15%)


• Experience as a technical trainer or instructional designer, applying adult learning principles into curriculum design and development.
• Experience as a K12 classroom teacher or equivalent experience in K12 content development
• Experience creating graphics, animations, video edit, slides, and other visual communications that convey technical concepts (using the Adobe Creative Suit, Articulate Storyline and Rise)
• Knowledge and/or hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure services highly desired
• Current AWS Certification (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, Developer)
• 3+ years of experience in programming, systems architecture or systems administration
• Professional experience architecting systems built with Amazon Web Services
• A demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
• A demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $108,000 - $160,000/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
