Job description

Interns will supplement their learning through online meetings with an ENGIE mentor and students from cohorts in California and Illinois. This internship will reinforce necessary skills and knowledge in energy analysis and construction management while providing a project to develop a 10-15 podcast.

Explore the intersection of sustainability and engineering as you learn about the design, construction, and maintenance of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Over the course of 7 weeks, interns will gain hands-on, real world experience and hone career skills through direct experience in energy assessment and management, energy conservation measure design, and project management. Additionally, students will work online with a cohort of peers to design and deliver a 15-20 min podcast. Explore the intersection of sustainability and engineering as you work on a team to research, develop, write, and record the 10-15 minute podcast on an energy and sustainability topic of your choosing. These podcasts will be used by ENGIE in our outreach and engagement programs throughout the country.

What you’ll do:

·  Participate in field days with ENGIE staff at your High School project site
·  Complete assigned energy industry work independently
·  Learn and support daily safety protocols
·  Learn construction management software platforms and procedures
·  Review construction documents
·  Complete final project presentation of 10-15 min podcast and internship experience
·  Complete weekly surveys and feedback requests on the internship experience
·  Engage in national intern conference call

What you bring:

·  Graduating or Incoming High School Senior in the School District
·  Has completed Algebra I
·  Must possess excellent communication (verbal and written) skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint
·  Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
·  Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
·  Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
·  Learn all safety aspects of the job.
·  U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency is required.
·  Must be 16 years or older

Additional Information/Conditions:

·  Must be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future
·  Schedule: Interns will have a part-time schedule of three days per week
·  Duration: 7 weeks during the week of June 20, 2022, ending the week of August 5, 2022. Approximately 120 hours
·  Location: Specific High School. Transportation to and from the worksites is required
·  Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing
·  Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
·  Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
·  Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
·  Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
·  Ability to use a personal computer, calculator, etc.
