Job summary
The Customer Behavior Analytics (CBA) organization owns Amazon's insights pipeline from data collection to deep analytics. We aspire to be the place where Amazon teams come for answers, a trusted source for data and insights that empower our systems and business leaders to make better decisions. Our outputs shape Amazons marketing teams' decisions and thus how Amazon customers see, use, and value their experience.

CMO (Campaign measurement and Optimization) team within CBA org's mission is to make Amazon's marketing the most measurably effective in the world. Our long-term objective is to measure the incremental impact of all Amazon's marketing investments on consumer perceptions, actions, and sales. This requires measuring Amazon's marketing comparably and consistently across channels, business teams and countries using a comprehensive approach that integrates all Paid, Owned and Earned marketing activity. As the experts on marketing performance, we will lead the Amazon worldwide marketing community by providing critical global insights that can power marketing best practices and tenets globally.

As a developer, you will be on the cutting edge of developing big-data solutions to provide actionable data insights in this dynamic marketing landscape.

As an SDE, you will be tasked with leading product innovations in measurement and optimization that enable us to deliver relevant and performant advertising experiences to customers. You will be given technical problems to solve. You will need to invent elegant solutions and design systems that help the science & marketing managers to test and learn the impact of advertising strategies across channels on these metrics while ensuring a great customer experience.

You will be expected to convert a design into code and deliver it using current software engineering best practices. You will write secure, testable, maintainable code with minimal defects. You will work closely with team members, customers and product managers to develop and deliver product features.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the full development life cycle, working within broadly defined parameters
  • Independently own the delivery of a system feature
  • Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments
  • Work closely with principle engineers and principle data engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new a product/feature development.
  • Builds software by converting design into code and deliver it using current software engineering best practices
  • Write secure, testable, maintainable code with minimal defects
  • Able to classify, store, and handle data in accordance with policy
  • Able to identify software defects by reviewing code errors, logfiles, metrics, using debug functions, and other common troubleshooting techniques.
  • Create and execute appropriate quality plans, project plans, test strategies and processes for development activities in concert with business and project management efforts.


Basic Qualifications
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.
  • 1+ years of experience in software development

  • 1-2 years of broad engineering experience including infrastructure and application development in AWS infra, Java, Python and or C/C+
  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience in designing, and building complex software systems.
  • Proven track record of leading the delivery of large-scale, high-quality systems
  • Experience with Agile Management, OO Modeling, UNIX, and database related projects
  • Exposure to Big Data Ecosystem and hands-on knowledge of MapReduce (Hadoop, Spark, Pig) technology
  • Experience with Data Lakes and/or Large analytic Systems
  • Experience working on automated marketing technologies
  • Familiarity with various AWS technologies (S3, DynamoDb, Kinesis, EMR, Cloudformation, Sagemaker, SNS/SQS) and related architecture pattern
