The Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver is an interdisciplinary professional school of international studies that prepares students for careers in the public, private and non-profit sectors. Position Summary

The Josef Korbel School seeks an energetic part-time Program Assistant to support Undergraduate Student Affairs. The Program Assistant will work with the Director of Undergraduate Student Affairs on various advising tasks. We are particularly interested in candidates who have academic advising experience and wish to actively contribute to the development of an important student resource at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, organized, creative, and self-motivated. International experience and/or working with a diverse student population is highly desirable.

Essential Functions

  • Providing International Studies and Public Policy advising for undergraduate students that are majoring or minoring in International Studies and/or Public Policy, including one-on-one and group advising sessions throughout the academic year.
  • Maintaining records and tracking the academic progress of INTS and PPOL majors and minors.
  • Assisting undergraduate students who wish to declare a major in International Studies and/or Public Policy.
  • Meeting with prospective students and their families throughout the academic year in collaboration with the Office of Undergraduate Admission.
  • Collaborating with other units/offices as necessary.
  • Offering general program assistance and special project support to the faculty and staff of the Undergraduate Program in International Studies and Public Policy as needed.
  • Updating/maintaining Korbel Undergrad Portfolio sites.
  • Organizing communications and newsletters for both current and prospective students.
  • Event planning assistance (Korbel Undergrad social events, commencement and orientation receptions).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with potential career paths for students majoring in International Studies and Public Policy.
  • Ability to accurately prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse set of constituents in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in a fast-paced educational setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Publisher, and Word.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 or more years working with and mentoring a diverse group of higher education students
  • 1 or more years of experience in academic advising and administrative support
  • Experience organizing and advertising events

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Banner
  • Experience in higher education

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 20hrs per week, exact schedule to be determined with supervisor. Evenings and weekends as required. Hybrid remote work schedule possible.

The salary grade for the position is 6.

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for the position is $20.50 - $23.50.
